A clip of Robert Welch on The John Birch Society... Curiously, during my
processing for my job at Kennedy Space Center, I was asked to sign a paper listing a number of subversive groups. Signing it meant that I declared under oath that I had never had any affiliation with any of the groups. This was 1966 and by that time, The John Birch Society was on the list. Later that year during my Army pre-induction physical, I was asked to sign another such listing of subversive groups and The John Birch Society was on that list, too.
I never had any such contact with that group other than supporting Goldwater in 1964 as a helper for the Young Americans for Freedom. Since then, I just watched the Walter Cronkite lies during Vietnam and Sam Donaldson disrespect President Reagan.
I don't know anything about The John Birch Society today nor am I curious. There comes a time when you "just give up on life and just want to be comfortable". (Seinfeld :))...
